Hello to all, First off, thank you all for taking the time to share so many "tricks from the trade." It is all good stuff and I can't thank you all enough. Or Pack race is in less than 2 weeks and we are on schedule for our build. The cosmetics are done, weight is right 138 g, com 7/8ths, axles & wheels prepped, holes prepped.....ready for alignment. This year for the first time (3rd yr) we decided to drill canted holes. We used Stan's theory of a drill bit size on a drill press for 2.5 in rear and we will bend for the front. So I have installed the rears and on the glass surface wheels roll to the axle heads both ways. my question is, at 2.5 deg of cant. are the wheels supposed to sit on the inner edge of the tread and not flat on the tread? Is this the fastest set up? BTW: we are racing in a 15yr old Pantadosi classic (wood) in good condition I have no way of measuring how much cant has been drilled only that they look the same and they are both riding on the inner edge? any thoughts are greatly appreciated! II & III 09-3rd in Pack/10-1st in Pack 9th in Districts/ 11 ?

Yep, they will sit on the edge! IMO it is the fastest set-up to date.

Thank you all, again. Five kids you were spot on! We had the Derby on Saturday. The Car performed Fast and true. We tuned it for rail riding with all of the traditional recipe specs from these boards. My Sons car took first in the Pack. It did exactly as hoped. It grabbed the rail at about half way down the transition and stayed there all the way to the end, amazing. We will be competing in Districts in April.
Five Kids, you are truly a dedicated racer ....WOW! I read through your blog and saw your setup at your house. BTW nice records. Good luck in your future races and I hope to see your name on the top K.O.T.Hill someday!

You say the car grabbed the rail half way down and held it. It seems to me that in getting to the half way point before "grabbing the rail" the car traveled further than if it was in contact with the rail at the starting gate. I always stage my cars with the dominant wheel touching the rail in the gate. I would like to know what other racers are doing. On my track I get more consistent times this way - and faster.
