Here is a new car that I built. Not a good picture at night. I will see if I can do better tomorrow and input new picture. The car is a "wing" design. Not too many pro racers are using wings and have elected for "planks". I might be running this car at PWDR in either Limited, Stock or Pro-stock.

Murph,
I like the 'wing' design for a derby car. Nice craftsmanship and paint finish.

Thanks Firenze, It is miserable painting with the humidity here in Tennessee. I might take to our shop at work and put another layer of clear on the car. There is little humidity in the shop. I have to sand with micromesh to get a shiny finish to overcome spray painting in the humidity. Murph SLT

Hey Scott, I have run this car many times against many of my other cars. It still has not yet reached it's potential. I believe that my rear axle holes might be a tad off.
My next step will be to put a slight bend in the rear axles using the Derby Worx Axle Press and Pro Rail Rider Tool. By putting a slight bend in the rear axles, I can fine tune the rear wheel alignment to gain the maximum potential out of the car.
The car body looks really nice and it is worth spending more time on. Currently, I have about 50 + cars and just got to find the time to spend working on this body! Thanks! Murph SLT

I hahe been looking into trying a simular design. Im woundering if the car alignment changes with changes in humitity? My sun and I have been designing cars with a little thicker profile. He wants to try a simular design with a larve cut out on the side. Im just woried that the car wil twist or shift during paint and transport to the race. There is quite a bit of movement in wood ant it reacts to humitity agresivly.

Scott, I agree with your assessment. The wood supplied in the kit will handle the humidity especially when we enter the winter months and our houses get like the desert. If you run this design, run your dominant RR Wheel on the side of the most wood. See if body sits flat on a surface. You are most worried about the alignment of the rear wheels if you are running a rail rider. My suggestion is to build two cars if you can get some track time or if you can figure out which car is aligned better. Let me know if you need anything else. We will get you and your Scout going! Thanks! Murph SLT
