Continuing Soap Opera from this thread: pinewoodp.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=bodierookie&action=display&thread=2490Took the wheels off and the bores are completely trashed. Looks like sandpaper inside. Not sure what happened. Axles are still polished to a mirror finish. Tried to polish the wheel bores again but they are way too large now. I'll start over with new wheels and axles. Anyone ever have this problem before? Based on my background it looks exactly like what happens when dirt gets into a bushing. Maybe a bit of fine sawdust got into them when I was working on other cars? Any advice on how to protect the car when its finished? I'm leaning toward a plastic ziploc bag.

We pick-up lots of trash and it gets into our wheel bores. If my children are running around the track while we are tuning, we always seem to get stuff in the bores and it slows the cars down. Just one of those things with PWD Cars!

Murph hit the nail on the head there! Man your worst enemy is contamination. A ziplock bag will help.... also, if you are running a well set-up railrider car where the rears are canted and run out to the head in forward and reverse then I would minimize your wheel gaps. The smaller the gap, the less chance of stuff getting in the bore.
