Hi everyone! I haven’t logged onto the internet for some time. I don’t know if I could possibly catch up on what has been posting on the boards. Hope all had a wonderful holiday season!
Our Pack’s Pinewood Derby was this last Saturday, the 20th. The boys did a great job building their cars. I am posting some pictures of them below. It was really fun building them together – the boys worked on every step from drawing their designs, to cutting, sanding, weight placement, painting, wheel prep…, and assembly. I am so proud of them!
They won all of their races too! My older son came in first in his den and then first in the Pack championship and my younger son won first in his den and then came in fourth in the Pack championship. They also scored very high in the show competition – first in den/third in Pack and second in den. It was an exciting day for our entire family as even Grandma and Grandpa came to cheer them on.
We used the Blue/Red Mirage paint similar to last year’s X-Ray car. It doesn’t shift colors as much as the Purple/Green, but looks great nonetheless. This paint is very user-friendly. As I noted above, the boys painted their cars. (I demonstrated first. My older son then did it himself and I would hold onto the bottom of the can for my younger son, but he pressed the button and had the rhythm down so it didn’t run.) And, all of us taking turns doing a paint-shaking dance was an integral part of the excellent finish the boys achieved.
You will note that the cars look pretty similar. My youngest son (a Tiger cub – 1st grade) sat next to his big brother (a Web I – 4th grade) when they drew their cars. The boys are inseparable so it is no wonder that the cars came out almost identical.
My older son will move on to the District Race which we think will be held in the beginning of March. After that, both boys said that they want to send their cars in and watch them race on the internet. We’re all looking forward to doing that!
We also would like to just say thank you for all of your help this past year - we have learned so much from you all via the these boards. Thanks again and happy racing!
