We raced for the first time this month and are pretty happy considering that we used out of the box wheels and graphite. I see alot of different suppliers of lathed wheels, does anyone have a preference on who I should buy them from?

Welcome Oldtimer,
Derby Master has wheels. He is alway pretty fast.
Winderby, a.k.a. Hodges Hobby House has a good assortment of wheels.
WarpSpeed is going to have some stuff out one of these days I have heard too.
You might want to try the Pro Wheel Shaver XT. The up front cost would pay for itself in 2 or 3 sets of wheels that you have prepared for yourself.

Thanks for the plug Mike. One thing to keep in mind, if you buy finished wheels, the supplier usually takes care of the o.d., and some do a good product. Using the Pro Tools, you can correct all of the dimensions. The Pro Hub will help in sizing hubs and allow the builder to square the inside hub to the centerline of the wheel. It will allow you to cone the hub when you are finished also. The Pro Hub Shaver will allow the builder to correct the outside hub and remove any defects in this area. The Pro Wheel shaver XT or 2 will allow the builder to true the o.d. of the wheel to the centerline of the hub with great accuracy and with a simple adjustment then the inside edge of the wheel can be trued where it makes contact with the guide strip. And you can do it over and over again and have pride in the fact that you and your child preped your own wheels. Also, stay tuned, looks like we are going to have an added feature or 2 for the Pro Wheel Shaver XT for the upcoming season. I know, it is hard to imagine these tools doing more!
