I agree on both points! If last month they had to wait for Sunday for stock, and this month there is 5-6 new cars, I bet they kill us tomorrow. I was looking at last Jan 05 and the number of cars doesn't compare to now, we might force Steve and Jennifer to go to two tracks or two day! Good for them and us! ;D I know I have met some great people here and I can't wait to build more cars! One day I might surprise you guys and hit the top ten in some category that I don't make up!!!!!! (Right now I am leading in "flame cars from Marietta.") Now the question to get it started, What did you send in this month? Let's figure out what they are looking at! Me, "Slow Burn" for the lower half of Mods, "Woody's Woodie" for the lower half (say last) of speed, but hopefully some Realistic points in stock. Woody

Here's some. I would like to wish Wheeler good luck tomorrow. I know it is his grandson's council race because it is also my nephew's. Nephew is Web II and races first. I am going to stay for whole thing because I want to see Wheelers grandson's finish as well as a guy I work with son is also a tiger. I would venture to say that tigers may be the toughest division this year. The kid that won our district was smokin fast and Freds grandson was no slouch. Also guy I work with son won their district. Enough about that, now for some chatter concerning Wirl. Anyone have experience with piantidosi aluminum tracks. I tested my cars on a 40 ft before I packaged them for Wirl. My question is regarding the timer on it. It used a laser start instead of a micro switch. The laser was 2.5 inches past the pins, so cars had a rolling start when the timer actually started. Track was 35' 3" from laser to finish. How much of a decrease in time will the laser account for with the rolling start? Does anyone have this setup? I am really anxious to see how my cars do. Gutter Buster straight out of the box back from Wirl ran consistent 2.77's. After relube and realign it was running consistent 2.73's when I packed it. Buckeye Blaster was running consistent 2.74's. Both considerably better than the 2.77's. Good Luck to all tomorrow (today now). Enough Chatter for you Tim?

Barga, Just did a little mathmatical anaylsis on GutterBuster. You said it ran 2.77 after the race last month on a track that is 423" long which relates to the 3.00 avg on a 443.5" track. 152.71 inches per second onyour track vs. 147.83 inches per second on WIRL track. Now it's running 2.73 on your track which equals 154.94 inches per second. On the WIRL track that should equate to 149.98 inches per second on the WIRL track. Which in turn would put you in the 2.96 second range. Sounds all good for you! ;D Jim

Personally, I prefer the Piantedosi style track. It is however about .1 faster than a Best track at the same distance. The longer flat on the Best track will magnify alignment issues. Since Wirl uses the Best Track, I guess we are stuck with that style.
Laser gates are very consistent, but must be tripped by the gate pins to be accurate. If the cars break the beam the times are faster for low profile cars due to the wheel breaking the beam instead of the front of the car. This makes for a very unfair race.
All that said, I have good news for Stock racers. I had little time for testing this month what little testing I did made things worse for my cars. I broke 2 of them and lost .03 on those 2 and made no improvement on the others. I still haven't learned to leave well enough alone. I did have a mod show some promise. So who knows.
Good luck to all. I predict this will be the month for a Frog to leap into first in Mods. Maybe the short wheelbase one.

I sent 2 stockers in this month to give Down N Flames some company at the bottom. Hothead got many improvements & should break the 3.2 into the 3.1's. A new car called Spicy Devil will make its madien voyage on Sat. I went out of the box with this one. Hope it just makes it down the track. So to all those new stockers dont fret because Ive got the bottom covered. Youll be in good company. Good Luck!

We're between team pictures and a baseball game, so I thought I'd chime in too. As long as the USPS delivered them in time, Bullitt will be racing in stock, and the Captain's Car (RR Capt) will be showing for realistic again and will also race (thanks DNF ). I tweaked the alignment on Bullitt ever so slightly, but I think I made it worse But hey, we added some lube and didn't run it in again Both of us are getting excited. Good luck to everyone.

I think that is 5 new stock, with Joker less one this month, we could hit 40!
Too bad Jennifer and Steve are playing with our cars, it is beautiful here in Marietta today, 85 and sunny!!!
With the new stockers, will we see a surprise or two?

I sent in Problem Child (stock) and Bad Putty Tat (Mod). I made some radical changes on both. I hope that converts to speed. I just completed building a wooden test track today. My previous test track has no center rail. If todays track tests were any indication, then the cars I sent in should do better. It would have been nice to know ahead of time...but what the heck. I will use the new test track to build a couple newbies for the Summer Shootout in Indiana. Hopefully I will be able to make that one in person. Good Luck to everyone.

Builder Jim, 2.96 is exactly what I figured for GutterBuster. I calculated the same way except I took ft/sec for both lentghs and times then figured what percentage Wirls time was of Piantidosi. Then figured that percentage of new speeds on Piantidosi and came up with 2.96. But that only works if gains are linear. I am sure they are not. I am not going to get hopes too high.
