After 6 and a half hours in a car it was great to finally be in the St. Louis area! I spent the is weekend with friend and business associate Bill "RacerX" Launius. It was an awesome experience!
This guy is truely living the american dream! A beautiful wife, polite children and a great home to raise them in! I was completely at home with them.
It wasn't at all what I was expecting, it was like visiting family, sure we talked pinewood, but mostly about life and family. Bill showed me the tools for the upcoming season and you are going to be very impressed! I am not able to discuss the new products at this time but lets just say they alone were well worth the trip! We sent a few cars down the track and Bill showed me his son's cars from the last two years. We then raced my Flagmaster II car against the slower of his sons two stock cars. and I lost! Yep, Bill has two stock cars that would run sub 19's at WIRL and they hadent been lubed since their district races a year ago! I then popped out 3 of my modified cars and 2 stock cars and sent them down the track, Bill shared a few alignment tips and I told him about Ideas I had about center mass on a 42' track! Then we exchanged a few goodies, I gave em some axles I liked an Air Brush and some machined RR wheels I no longer use and he handed over a few prototypes and a bunch of pipe cleaners. I learned one big thing! RacerX knows his Pinewood! I am for sure if Bill (who owns 3 businesses) had the time, he could be number one in WIRL his first month.
OH YEA, Junior whips out the pro shaver and makes 4 wheels with innner and outer hub shaved, tread cleaned up, coned it and polished the inside of the wheels all in less than 15 minutes, 4 wheels... it was nuts, I put calipers to it, they were all perfect, they were all within .002 of each other! It was easy...
I want to thank him for an awesome time and learning experience, more details to come!
