I have been working on a better wood track design for about a year now, and I hope I have brought new innovation to an old dinosaur. I will share some of its highlights: The track surface is made from 1/2" 9ply plywood with a birch veneer top & bottom with 3 coats of a factory applied urethane coating. This surface is as smooth as a baby's skin. Lane guidesare from like material 1/4" thick 5-ply. All cut edges are sealed with 2coats of urethane. Legs & braces are solid hard maple and is coated. Starting height typical 48" with a bout 30 degrees of slope. My leg & brace design allows the front legs to remain on the ground without the need of stacking books on the brace or adding other forms of weights. Shipping crate is wood and can easily made into storage case by adding a few 1x2's and hinges. Hopefully I will be in the photographers studio between Christmas & New Years. Pics and video will be on a new website soon, rough pics avail. hopefully in a few days.

I have some rough pics that I hope will show up for you. I am waiting to get into a photo studio for clear and good pics for the website.
Pics coming soon...
I apologize, I took a picture of the start gate before I finishe routering out the slots. Check out the front legs 12" tall and they are firmly on the ground without any extra books or weights laid on the bracing. My shipping crate is made of 3/4" unfinished birch plywood with 1/4" masonite top and bottom cover. For about $20 you can get a few 1x2's, 3 hinges, hasps, and handles and finish the conversion to a nice storage case. Doing this is only going to cost me about $2-$3 more per track over buying cardboard boxes made to fit the track, but it will give the customer much more.
