Just got back from an auction awhile ago. Bought me a lathe. 7X12 SpeedWay Series. May not be the highest quality but I could not let it go, I should go to jail because I pretty much stole it. After I won it the son of the guy who owned it told me that it was purchased less than a year ago. He bought it to make parts for his model T he was rebuilding. Said his dad turned 1 piece of aluminum on it to see how it worked, probably did not run it more than 10 minutes. Man I am excited and can't wait to start trying to whittle out some of my own wheels. Anyone have any tips they care to share about there experience with their lathes. Such as options I should or should not buy? I know I need a tailstock drill chuck. It has a dead center but I am planning on replacing that with a live center. Does anyone use a steady rest or a follower rest? I only know a little of what I have read as far as certain accessories and what they are used for. Wow, am I excited!
