Since I have 3 cub scouts to help build cars this year, I was wondering if anyone has used some of the car design software that is out there?
A) does it actually work? B) will it make it easier and faster for my boys to design their cars?
Otherwise, we're using 1/4" grid paper to design things. That can get a bit tedious at times.
thanks!

I don't know if I need a 3D CAD program or not, as I've never used one. What I would like is a program that will allow the boys to "draw" their design, and calculate the COM based upon where we specify weights are placed.
I'm not looking for extensive racing software that will calculate speed and run times and compare different designs (although that would be really nice), because we're trying to keep budget to a minimum. The only one I saw that did all that looked waaaayy too complex for me, let alone my boys, to figure out.

I don't know of a specific program that does that but I'm assuming any respectable 3D CAD software could; if you know what you are doing. After trying several apps, I decided to go the hands on approach; my BestTrack arrives next week. And I'm already having tons of fun building prototypes! Yeah, but my garage is only 26ft. long...(not to mention the budget thing) You would be correct!
