Last year I placed the weight over the rear wheels as high as possible (3" )in a wing type location. It did very well and being high up the weight was forward of the rear wheels when on the ramp. Does this sound like a good plan?

Not the expert, but typically from a Physics perspective, you would want your weight as low and as far back as possible. You will get the most assistance from gravity hence speed from this type of configuration. Also helps with stability and allows for a more aggressive COG. Good to hear you had luck with this however, as that most likely speaks to the fact that while your weight was good, it can be better! Most likely you added alot of weight- how much? And additionally I assume your alignment, axles and wheel prep, weight of car, lubrication, COG and track technique were all very good as well. So....assuming that these items were done well, then that leaves tweaking your weight placement to improve your performance even better. Do you know what kind of track you are on for Pack and/or Districts?

tkp is spot on. Low and slow dosn't apply to PWD cars. Ultimately the further back the better, although control becomes an issue. You must balance the two out and that is where the fun comes in.

I placed my weight too far back this year, still won ;D, but my car was bouncing off the rail.
