I believe the graphite is sprayed on to the metal at 125 pounds of air pressure. It then sticks to the metal. Try some and post back your results.

I was reading the process on line. It says it's dry graphite is sprayed at 125 pounds of pressure. It then penetrates the metal enough to stick. It sounds to me that you would need a small sand blasting cabinet. Then quite a bit of graphite. It's probably a lot cheaper just to buy the axles already done.

I did some tests on what is called a dry film graphite. It is sprayed on and dried. My tests were totally negative compared to regular powdered graphite. It not only was significantly slower but wore off the axel quickly. I have not pursued any other similar product. I stick with the tried and true. Cheers Cycunner
