Last weekend my grandson won first in the den race. Today we went to the district race He won first out of all the tiger scouts and 6th out of 48 over all. He was a little up set he did not get to run the top 4 best times but he was not off much. I told him for his first year and first build he did really well. Last week This week The car

Congrats! I'd say you both did very well. Remember, there is always next year. And with what you learned this year you'll be that much better. I'd be tickled pink if my son does that well when its time for his race.
Did you have a chance to test the car before he raced it? I'm curious how you dialed it in, if at all. If I remember right, you were rushed to get it done and still did that well. I guess I don't have a good feeling that ours will be that fast even though we tried to take most of the advice we found here.
Nice work on the wins!

Yes we had 3 days to do the build. It never saw a track till the first race. This one is a straight runner and all I did was run it down a 4 foot board to see how it was tracking.
Next year we are going to make a Rail Rider and do our best to get under 3 seconds which has never been done on the track we ran on. We ran on the same track both times but in different locations. Today the track was slower then the first race. Thanks Jeff

46, Nice job by your Scout and you. Nice paint job on the car. The first year is always an adventure for the Scout and parent/grandparent. Your story brings back memories. Our first year we took third out of 12 cars at the pack race. We did not enter the district race because we did not even know that there was such an event. Since our first race, Shawn has done pretty well at district or council. Despite knowing his" old man's tricks", he has never won district or council. We are not the best graphite racers. Our specialty is oil and we cannot run it because of our rules. Over the last year, we have learned enough about "powder" that Shawn can decrease his track times. He is getting his car ready for the pack race Tuesday night. He spent most of his time working on his pro cars over the last month. I am not letting him run the car on the track before the race to make for a fair race. Murph

We have one more race this year at my grandsons church tomorrow on the 3rd. I have no idea what sort of track they are going to use. Will reply back after it is over.
