I BUILT A CAR FOR A FRIEND AND IT WAS PAINTED WITH DUPLICOLOR MIRAGE PAINT......THOUGHT IT HAD PLENTY OF DUPLICOLOR CLEAR ON IT & HAD DRIED PROPERLY. IT WAS PACKED IN BUBBLEWRAP FOR A FEW DAYS IN A CLIMATE-CONTROLLED ROOM JUST LIKE I SEND CARS TO WIRL. AFTER REMOVING THE BUBBLEWRAP - YOU COULD SEE SMALL CIRCLES WHERE THE BUBBLES HAD MADE SMALL INDENTATIONS INTO THE CLEAR. WHAT HAPPENED? HADN'T HAD THAT PROBLEM WITH CARS I SENT TO WIRL. MAYBE THE CLEAR WASN'T AS DRY AS I THOUGHT? MAYBE I SHOULD HAVE WRAPPED IN SOFT CLOTH INSIDE THE BUBBLEWRAP? I USED SOME 3M HAND GLAZE AND BUFFED MOST OF IT OUT - JUST DIDN'T WANT TO GO TO THE TROUBLE OF REMOVING THE WHEELS AGAIN / WET SAND / AND CLEARCOAT AGAIN. ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO AVOID THIS IN THE FUTURE?

i had that problem with my car last year also. so it seems that the duplicolor takes about a week to fully cure. This might have been your problem also. Solution: let stand for at least a week at room temp or to speed things up try a hair dryer to get it to set up quicker.

Both of our cars for this month have Dupli-color Mirage also. Same color because I'm cheap and want to get it used up. I've preferred automotive paints for most everything, probably from being around cars most of the time. I've had similar experiences with Dupli-color on past projects. I tried a hair dryer once but that made it worse for me. It cured so quickly that it ended up with shrinkage cracks and had to be sanded down and completely redone again I agree with BuilderJim's first suggestion, let it cure for about a week. I had a bad experience using a hair dryer on it, so I would be very careful if you try that method.

LET THE PAINT CURE FOR A WEEK... OR USE SPEED CLEAR...
