Does anybody know what kind of church holds these pinewood derby races? Is it a certain denomination because our catholic churches don't have derby races? Or am I misguided and it's a certain organization that holds derby races. I've done a search in my area for pinewood derby races but, can't find anything outside of boyscout pack races. HyperDrive

Hyper,
Awana clubs are usually used by Baptist churches as well as other Bible teaching churches. Check them out, they are alot of fun.

AWANA is actually a nondenominational Bible based program. The kids learn a lot of Bible verses, and have a lot of fun.
It is a great program. I recommend it highly.
The races are fun too.

Phil,
Thanks for clearifying my post. I was thinking mainly of what I have observed. I also highly recommend Awana to any family seeking to help their children become grounded in the Bible.

This particular race is Awana run, but there are many other church groups that run a pinewood derby type race. Awana is the largest, with about 12,000 Awana clubs in the US. Here are some of the others. - Lutheran Pioneers -- They have regional races and a national one
- Christian Service Brigade
- Royal Rangers (Assemblies of God) -- They call their race a "Pinewood Derby" also
- Royal Ambassadors (Southern Baptist)
There are many other smaller church groups as well that do this type of race.

Well Phil I think I'll give gpraceman and woodenshoe exalts FIRST since you've already reached 100. I guess you get to choose a prize from Derbyworx. IS derbyworx still doing the prize thing? Does anybody know? Barry

Does anybody know? Barry Thanks guys, I think the prizes were for the first 3 to 100, but that's OK. I have received several prizes from Derby Worx. I have received several sets of axles and at least 2 sets of wheels (for finishing last). Thanks Bill for giving freely to WIRL racers. It is appreciated whether we say so or not. I have also bought several sets of wheels from Derby Worx and they have always been 1st class parts. Thanks again for the exalts, but mostly for the friendship and humor. Good luck to all racers this weekend. Phil

Hyper,
Thanks for your encouragement. I have received so much help from everyone here. It's nice to be able to give back to someone else.
