Ok, my curiosity lies in the difference between 2.5gram wheels and 2.2 gram wheels. We are going to District and are curious if the difference in running the 2.2gram wheels with coned hubs would be noticeable over the 2.5gram wheels without coned hubs, all other factors being equal of course. District competition is tough and is being held on a timed track with speeds average out over 1 run on each of 4 lanes. Any thoughts? Thanks

All else being equal, at the very minimum you should get down the slope a little quicker due to to the lightened wheels, and the reduction in friction form the coned hubs should help also.

IMHO, the lighter the better. Only caveat is that you can't remove so much material from the wheel as to weaken it. As Enrico said, all else being equal, lighter is better. Similarly, if you can cone -- cone. In my experience, you will go faster with coned wheels as compared to similar wheels without coned hubs. My 2 cents.
