1oufacat, Check out "General Discussion-News and Announcements" / "Attaching Pictures" see if it helps in posting pic. Note: It sends you to a couple of different areas. Good Luck We can't wait to see the pics Well, I'd swear I did just that, but today it worked. Who knows why... I've been posting on a sports message board for years and never had issues like yesterday... Oh well, here's the pic from yesterday and a few more from last year. Keep in mind that these are for the Awana Grand Prix races, so the rules are fairly strict (no wheel mods, etc.). My daughter is the one on the left, first place, again... As I said earlier, for the past 7 or more years we've always either won or came in first as well as second. My wife is getting tired of it and in fact said, "why don't you have them make a slow cars so other kids can win? It's just getting a little embarrassing if you know what I mean." Can you believe how naive she is??? Rachel this year. Here are the cars from last year, the three fastest cars there. Jeremy's car won first overall, Rachel's was actually ahead of Josh's car near the end and hit something on the track causing it to fly off the track, Josh then won... Rachel won first on design with her "Fireball" look in the final heat between them (the other two cars were quite a bit slower, and Rachel and Josh were in the same division...). Josh Rachel Jeremy I tried loading the photos with their ribbons/trophy but can't seem to get fotothing to work today... I do have those pics though... Jeremy took his car this year (now a Leader in Awana), and raced Rachel's car from this year and his car actually beat Rachel's car from this year... after re-oiling of course...

1uofacat,
Thanks for sharing the photos. Looks like your family has enjoyed a lot of success with pinewood car building. Congrats!

1uofacat, Thanks for sharing the photos. Looks like your family has enjoyed a lot of success with pinewood car building. Congrats! you bet... it has been fun, especially for the kids. Opened up a photobucket account... here's the other two pics with last year's cars Rachel's and Josh's division only awarded ribbons... the older kids had the trophies. Jeremy was pretty proud of his car as well... (next time I'll compress the pics... sorry for the size.

I'd like to see a match race between a top flight Awana car vs. a BSA vehicle. On a 32'freedom track a great Awana car will go 2.6+- .03. the fastest I've EVER seen at an awana race was 2.54 but it was a purchased car and there was something strange with it. The rules didn't allow me (track operator) to inspect it as someone had already passed it. Never saw one that fast though. Anybody wanna race here in West MI Feb. 28?

1uofacat; You didn't mention where you are racing. Most Scout venues I can think of are graphite ONLY and oils are illegal. Is that what you mean by saying too much already and will start loosing races (because you'll have to use graphite like everyone else) ? I would hate to think that you would be using illegal lubes on your kid's cars.

I feel I need to address the previous post I made on this topic. I didn't see that 1uofacat did post the above pictures that clearly show they are in the Awana grand prix. My Daughter and I were just in the same organization's race here, locally. (but not the same as 1uofacat ) Oil lube is better than dry, but often it is not allowed. I felt that I scrutinized the rules, as they were sent in the kit, thoroughly. Upon further review, the only mention on lubricants is they recommend "polishing the axles with a lubricant" . Like most racers I interpreted this to be dry lube only. One could argue that is not the case, and probably win. Although, next year, the rules may be amended - who knows. The point is, I took great exception to the idea that a parent would would use banned lube in a youth race to gain an advantage. I see now that this most likely was not the case and would like to extend an apology. As a side note, through the whole process of us building the car and going on to enter the fastest car in the meet, everyone I shared the experience with smiled smugly and accused me of cheating. It's like a nascar mentality. "only cheaters can go fast" and give no credit to someone who puts time, thought, and effort to make these cars go. Not to mention the fun we had doing it. So, congratulations on the wins, and next year - I'll be back with a different lube !!
