Well,
I'm here. I asked this question over on the WIRL boards and was directed here. My builder name is Pinewood King and the car name is Flyer. Not much flying in my first month. I placed 18 out of 21. I knew the car would be slow, but wanted to get a baseline to see how much faster I would need to make it.
Where can I buy or how can I make my own thin wheels. I know there is someone on ebay that sells s, He does not offer them very often.
Thanks, John.

John You can buy them from www.PinewoodFreeSpeed.com but you are going to pay more than Ebay Pricing. I was actually making some not 15 minutes ago before I saw what time it was. Contact me and I will see what I can do. I am a little low on wheels and cash but I may be able to help you out. I will post a picture of my Wheels I just made in a minute. Send Me a PM or email me.

Welcome PinewoodOne,
It depends. I try to submit a car a month. I am working with 2 cars currently for the open class. I take the car that raced and use that as a baseline for the car I will race for the upcoming month. I don't stop until I get a car that is at least a car length faster than the previous months car. My 2 cars are flyer and secret weapon. I outfitted flyer with a set of s and I have matched secret weapons time. I need to do some more fine tuning now that I have both cars running the same speed. Not sure which one I will send. Just a note that the wheels that are on secret weapon where from Pinewood-Perfromance.
I am also working on a stock rail car. It is a design from a few years ago that was rather slow due to not knowing how to prepare the wheels and axles. I am installing a new set of stock wheels and axles and I am very happy with the speeds I am seeing. They match an extended wheelbase district winner we had this past year. So I may send it in as well.
John.

We were able to make our own thin wheels out of BSA wheels. Here's how. Mounted the wheel on a wheel mandrel, put it in a drill press on a lowest speed. Held a utility knife against the tread and patiently let the blade do its thing. Then repeated for the hub. Cleaned it up and coned the hub with the derbyworx tool. Fastest car on the pwd track, barely edging out my son's almost identical car with wide wheels. I did find that the thin wheels ran better with weight directly over the front of the car (extended wheelbase)
